Lishan or Pear Mountain started as a high mountain plantation for vegetables and fruits like pears, peaches and apples. In the 1970s, tea farmers started to plant the first few tea trees and realized that Lishan is a very viable region for growing high quality teas. Within a decade, tea gardens started to replace the fruit orchards and grew in numbers as the local tea market started to bloom.

Lishan Oolong (梨山高山烏龍) is cultivated at a high altitude between 1,800-2,500 meters in the northernmost point of Nantou, Taiwan and Heping, Taichung. The terroir is rich in sandy flakes, giving Lishan Oolong an unique cold mineral flavour. With a temperature difference of more than 10°C between day and night and cold fog and mist circulating in the area, Lishan Oolong also has a special alpine charm, with a sweet, fruity fragrance of pears and peaches that is truly irresistible.

**Also see 60g Mist Tea Series.

*All of our teas are produced and processed from our own tea-making facilities in Nantou, Taiwan.
